Is there an excavation contractor near me in Steamboat Springs?
That’s us — DCE is based in Steamboat Springs and works all of Routt County and Northwest Colorado: Stagecoach, Oak Creek, Hayden, Clark, Craig, and out through the Yampa Valley. Excavation and concrete, both self-performed. If your lot’s in the valley or a reasonable haul from it, we’ll bring the right iron.
How do I get an excavation estimate, and what will my project cost?
Send us the basics through the contact form or call, and we’ll walk the site with you before we quote — mountain lots vary too much to price sight-unseen. You get a line-item estimate up front.
Do you install underground utilities and septic systems?
Yes — water, sanitary sewer, and storm mains and service lines, plus trenching for any line that has to go in the ground, and septic and leachfield work as part of full site packages. Everything is bedded, backfilled, and compacted, not just pushed in.
Can you dig and backfill the foundation for a new home?
That’s core work for us — from walkout basements to commercial pads, dug to plan and backfilled in compacted lifts. Our own crew also forms and pours the footers, foundation walls, and flatwork, so you’re not coordinating a second contractor.
Can you build on a steep or hard-to-access mountain lot?
Steep ground is most of the work around Steamboat. We handle cut-and-fill grading, driveways built to survive mud season, and MSE retaining walls that hold a grade change where the hillside doesn’t want one.
Do I need a permit for excavation or grading in Routt County?
Most projects do — grading, driveway access, and septic all run through county or city review. We work to your approved plans and coordinate with your builder or engineer so the paperwork and the dirt work line up.
